Course Requirements

  • Class Participation: 10%

Class participation is a vital part of learning. When students share their thoughts in class, they learn to communicate their ideas effectively. This process enhances their ability to express their viewpoints clearly and persuasively. Additionally, participation encourages critical thinking and allows students to engage with diverse perspectives, enriching their understanding of the subject. Regular attendance is important for participation and demonstrates consistency. By attending class regularly, students stay updated with the course material and are better prepared to contribute meaningfully to class discussions.

  • Term Papers: 15%

All term papers must be typed in a standard format and include correct footnotes and a bibliography. This ensures that the papers are professionally presented and that sources are properly cited, which is essential for maintaining academic integrity. Term papers must be submitted to the professors by the last day of the semester. Meeting this deadline is crucial for the timely evaluation and grading of the work.

    Paper Format

    • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point.
    • Footnote: Use font size 10, single spacing, and align text to the left. Indent the first line with one tab from the left margin. Do not leave extra line spaces between footnote entries.

The material will come from both required readings and class lectures. This comprehensive approach ensures that students are tested on their understanding of the material from multiple perspectives, encouraging thorough preparation and a deep grasp of the course content.

  • Exam Rules

All exams must be taken as scheduled, and all courses must be completed within the semester in which they are registered. Exceptions will be granted only in cases of illness, provided that prior notification is given to the department head. Students who fail to provide prior notification due to negligence will not be allowed to take the exam during the semester, unless it is found genuine. For final-year students, non-compliance with these rules may result in a delay in graduation, as re-exams are not permitted. This means the student will have to graduate with the next cohort, as they will be disqualified from graduating in the current academic year
